Radio 702 is a talk radio station based in Johannesburg, South Africa, broadcasting to the greater Gauteng province on FM frequencies 92.7 and 106. Established on June 28, 1980, it initially operated as a young adult music station and transitioned to a talk radio format in 1988. During the apartheid era, Radio 702 was among the few independent broadcasters delivering unbiased news to South Africans. The station is owned by Primedia and has garnered several accolades, including "Station of the Year" at the BBC Africa Radio Awards in 2007 and "Commercial Radio Station of the Year" at the MTN Radio Awards in 2014.
